Applications for the wind-powered water pump

Wherever the wind blows and water is needed.

Wind-powered water pump at sunset

Overview

Versatile and completely off grid

Wind wheels can be put to work pumping water anywhere the wind blows freely. Our water pump is built to be simple and robust, so it keeps working reliably day after day.

The very first of our water pumps have been raising water reliably around the world for decades, entirely independent of the power grid.

  • Fish farms: hold water levels and oxygen content, fill tanks and ponds.
  • Farming: irrigate fields and meadows, collect rainwater from roofs.
  • Allotments & smallholders: water plants and vegetables through dry spells.
  • Security of supply: pump water into reserve tanks and keep it in store.
  • Advertising effect: a windmill visible for miles as your landmark.

In detail

The applications in detail

At home almost anywhere

Wind wheels can be put to work pumping water anywhere the wind blows freely, whether the water comes from a deep well, a lake, a river or a stream. The system has proved itself for well over a century, and our water pump is simple and robust in design, so it runs continuously without fuss.

Fish farms

Fish farms need large volumes of fresh water to hold water levels, secure the oxygen content, fill several tanks and top up reserves. Wind-powered systems are an environmentally friendly and economical alternative to electric or diesel pumps.

Farms & agriculture

Farms need a great deal of irrigation over the summer months. The water for fields and meadows often comes from local wells or reservoirs. Several operators have installed large tanks that collect rainwater from greenhouse and barn roofs to feed the wind pump.

Allotments & smallholders

Allotment holders, for example in allotment associations, need water for their plants and vegetables. Long, dry summers mean steep water bills or a lot of carrying, and a wind pump cuts both down considerably.

Security of supply

The water is pumped into storage or reserve tanks, so it is ready whenever you need it, including in an emergency.

A talking point for your business

A windmill that can be seen from far away draws attention across the region and creates warm associations: a genuine landmark for your business.
